Broad band X–ray spectra of M31 sources with BeppoSAX
We present the first spectral study of the X–ray emitting stellar sources in M31 in the energy band from ∼ 0.1 to 10 keV. We find that the globular cluster sources have spectral characteristics consistent with those of the Milky Way object, namely that the spectrum can be described by a thermal model with ∼ 6–20 keV from ∼ 2 to 10 keV. Evidence of high absorption in some of these sources is mos...
متن کاملThe BeppoSAX High Energy Large Area Survey HELLAS, II: Number counts and X-ray spectral properties
The BeppoSAX High Energy Large Area Survey (HELLAS) has surveyed about 85 deg of sky in the 5–10 keV band down to a flux of 4− 5× 10 erg cm s . The source surface density of 16.9±6.4 deg at the survey limit corresponds to a resolved fraction of the 5–10 keV X–ray background (XRB) of the order of 20–30 %. Hardness ratios analysis indicates that the spectra of a substantial fraction of the HELLAS...
متن کاملWide-band X-ray variability of GRS 1915+105 observed with BeppoSAX
The Galactic Microquasar GRS 1915+105 was observed by the Narrow Field Instruments onboard BeppoSAX in two pointings during year 2000. We present the preliminary results of wideband study of the observed variability, carried out also with the wavelet analysis.

We report on highlight results on celestial sources observed in the high energy band (> 20 keV) with BeppoSAX . In particular we review the spectral properties of sources that belong to different classes of objects, i.e., stellar coronae (Algol), supernova remnants (Cas A), low mass X–ray binaries (Cygnus X–2 and the X–ray burster GS1826–238), black hole candidates (Cygnus X–1) and Active Galac...
متن کاملThe 1998 outburst of the X-ray transient 4U 1630–47 observed with BeppoSAX
We report results of five pointed BeppoSAX observations of the black hole candidate 4U1630–47 during part of its 1998 outburst when the 2–10 keV source luminosity decreased from 2.1×10 erg s (for an assumed distance of 10 kpc) by a factor of ∼7. The 2–200 keV spectrum can be modeled by a soft multi-temperature disk blackbody and a hard power-law. During four of the observations, there is eviden...
